This Super Hard-On has the "Steve Albini" mod, meaning the Zener protection diode is in a socket. The owner can remove it with needlenose pliers and store it somewhere safe. When the diode is removed, everything sounds extra glassy. This is how Steve had us make the SHOs he used in the studio. You'll just want to make sure the pedal is off before you plug/unplug your instrument with the diode removed, as the transistor will be more sensitive to static interference.
